Hey look! Over here! It's me!
Another month gone without writing this: I must be the goddess of procrastination after all. The paperwork is still going through in regards to our house sale. It’s annoying as we keep looking at flats to rent, but the ones we like go to someone else since we are not able to tell the letting agent “Yes! We want this one!” until we have got an exchange date. There is one that we like available still in Sneyd Park – it’s literally a 3 minute walk down the road from our current flat – fingers crossed it stays unlet for a little while longer.
My Nan’s operation went really well. She was out of hospital in no time and she has now been given the all-clear. She’s obviously still very sore, and annoyed that she can’t do all the things that she wants to do yet, but her spirits are high generally. Dad’s hernia operation also went well and he has been recovering quickly. He and Mum should be in France by now – they left this morning to go and stay with Dad’s cousin Brian in their apartment in Fresjus – or at least I think that is where they are!
Had quite a nice birthday after I’d stopped worrying about my Nan’s op. On the Friday Graham and I went down to Cornwall, back to Boscastle where we went for my birthday last year. The devastation that the flood caused last summer was still evident, though you could see that they’d worked really hard to get things rebuilt and reopened. The café where we ate lunch the first time we were there was just a shell being worked on by builders – it was right next to the river.
While we were there, The Welly pub reopened – it looked a lot better than it used to as they’d made it more open and a lot brighter. We were there on opening night for a couple of drinks and a nosey around, then went across the road to the Cobweb for dinner. We took the last table and so I invited the next couple that came in to share our table with us. They were from somewhere up north and we stayed with them most of the evening, as after dinner they insisted on buying us a drink downstairs in the pub. And another. And there was a good band playing so we couldn’t leave. When we did leave, rather worse for wear, we walked past the Welly and I could hear singing – the villagers were all singing Cornish songs and I couldn’t not go back in for another pint! Graham got fed lots of flapjacks and we generally just joined in with the locals – it was a special atmosphere that night.
We also fitted in a trip to St Ives that weekend which I was really chuffed about as it was a lovely place. Had it not been such a wet weekend we would have stayed there a lot longer, but we got in the car and travelled around instead – visiting that place beginning with M opposite St Michaels Mount and Lands End (which was rather underwhelming).
Graham bought me British Grand Prix tickets for my birthday (and champagne and Star Wars tickets, and a meal which I haven’t had yet) – so YAY, I’m actually going to see a Grand Prix in a few weekend’s time! Hope Button gets some points before then though…
More to follow this afternoon hopefully (unless I suddenly get busy – HA!)
And I really must get round to transferring my written Paris diary to this blog!
