When I say soon...
I mean before the end of the year. I was on a roll writing the journal when i was on my own in the library, but now everyone is back from holiday I can't be so much of a slacker at work! And term starts next week so it's going to get busy. I will get on with it though I promise. And the Paris diary (which inexplicably stopped being written at day 5 of 7).
I've been so tired after work the past couple of weeks. I think it may be because of my new flat screen monitor which is smaller and brighter then my old monitor and not so good for my eyes. It's about time I got myself to an opticians. Last night I was in bed by 8.30 p.m., I just couldn't keep my eyes open and the Terry Jones documentary The Story of 1 annoyed me so much that I had to go to bed and weep for the quality of BBC programming.
I was fascinated about the history of numbers when I studied a bit of it for my Ancient Science course at uni, but this was probably the most annoying programme I've ever seen. I gave up after 15 minutes because I was shouting at the TV, pleading with Terry Jones to give us something of value to watch.
To make mathematics accessible to the masses you don't need to treat your audience as if they are total dimwits. A combination of pre-school material, Terry Jones' forced lunacy and some really awful CGI illustrating his points made for an utterly rubbish programme which probably only succeeded in putting people off being curious about maths in the future.
And if I see another bouncing cone this year I think I might scream.
